From Speaker to Receiver

From Speaker to Receiver

JUNE 13 – AUGUST 24, 2014

From Speaker to Receiver seeks to explore the role of spoken and written communication as a catalyst for social agency in a world radically altered by digital information and social networking. The exhibition specifically looks at how artists use the linguistic transfer of information to address a broad set of issues pertaining to political and religious propaganda, history, and translation. Together the works construct a unique visual syntax into how we receive and process information in an increasingly media saturated and globalized society. The full artist list is as follows: Fernando Bryce (Peru); Robert Gober (New York); Shilpa Gupta (India); Zoe Leonard (New York); Daniel Joseph Martinez (Los Angeles); Michael Muller (Germany); Amalia Pica (Argentina/Britain); and Anri Sala (Albania)

Support for From Speaker to Receiver is provided by Substance Architecture.
