The Des Moines Art Center has five paid positions available at this time.


    The Facilities Director is responsible for the care of the environmental, mechanical, electrical, custodial, structural, and architectural systems of the Des Moines Art Center’s buildings and grounds. This position creates and implements strategies to utilize, repair, and preserve the facility.


    Through the Art Center’s Studio Education Internship Program, the intern will be introduced to methods of developing and teaching quality, hands on, age appropriate studio art education classes for ages two to 16. This internship is a paid opportunity.

The intern will be introduced to Registration practices including archiving exhibitions, working with The Museum System (TMS), and handling and conditioning objects. This internship is an unpaid opportunity.


    The Human Resources Manager supports the organization’s staff and management by recruiting and hiring employees, maintaining good employee relations, administering benefits, ensuring compliance with current laws and best practices, processing payroll and serving as a liaison between supervisors and employees.


    Facility Workers provide a fresh, clean, and safe environment for visitors and staff by performing maintenance and janitorial duties in the Art Center’s facility and on the grounds.
