Contemporary Art and Public Lands

11/14/2019 / 6:30pm

Several of the works in Monument Valley feature imagery of iconic National parks such as Yosemite, while others address the use of public lands, and the taking of Indigenous lands by European colonists. Other works remind us that the resources of the frontier, once seen as endless, are seriously endangered by human activity. Curator Laura Burkhalter will examine these elements in the exhibition and guest speaker Abby Hade Terpstra  will discuss the status of public lands in Iowa.
