Neo Rauch in Conversation with Brett Littman and Jeff Fleming

9/26/2018 / 7:00pm

*Reservations required

Artist Neo Rauch and Brett Littman, Former Director of The Drawing Center, NY, and Jeff Fleming, Director of the Des Moines Art Center, will have a conversation about the trajectory of Rauch’s career, insight into his artistic process and the influence of the subconscious, the importance of activating viewers’ personal narratives, and a sneak preview of the exhibition that opens the following night.

Rauch will speak about the trajectory of his work in painting and drawing. Some of Rauch’s drawings are highly finished and stand alone, while others are simple sketches that work out a design problem, flush out a figure, or capture a fleeting thought. Most are mixed media using pant, pen, or marker, either together of singularly, Many of the drawings contain notes scribbles in the margins from meetings with friends, collectors, or curators. Together, these drawings help illuminate Rauch’s process of creation.
