Q: What is the Polka Dot Party?
A: The Des Moines Art Center presents the Polka Dot Party in celebration of the exhibition Yayoi Kusama and the installation of Pumpkin (L) in the Pappajohn Sculpture Park! This vibrant party will include simultaneous events on 15th Street near the Sculpture Park and at the Art Center. It will be a feast for the senses!
A shuttle will run continuously between the events. This event is free and open to the public. Share your polka dot photos on social media using the hashtag #DotDesMoines.
Q: Do I have to get tickets?
A: Nope! The Polka Dot Party is free and open to the public.
Q: Where is this event happening?
A: This event will be held in two locations simultaneously. Downtown near the Pappajohn Sculpture Park the party will take place on 15th Street between Grand Avenue and Locust Street. There will also be a celebration at the Des Moines Art Center at 4700 Grand Avenue in Des Moines. A free shuttle will run continuously between the two locations.
Q: Where can I park?
A: Street parking is available downtown near the Pappajohn Sculpture Park. Parking is limited in the Art Center lot; however, additional parking can be found north of the Art Center along Polk Boulevard or southeast of the Art Center along 45th Street.

Q: What will the downtown party look like?

Q: Will there be food?
A: Of course! At the Art Center, round bites will be catered by Tangerine Food Company. Downtown we will have a variety of food vendors, including The Grateful Chef, One Sweet Kitchen, The Outside Scoop, Taza Fresh, and Wingz On Wheelz.
Q: Did I hear there would be live music?
A: You did! The Punching Pandas will be playing at the downtown party, and Courtney Krause will perform at the Art Center.
Q: What should I bring?
A: This is a rain or shine event so dress accordingly! A cash bar will be available at the 15th Street party. Remember to bring cash as there is no ATM onsite.
