The Des Moines Art Center offers guided and self-guided tours through the museum as well as the John and Mary Pappajohn Sculpture Park.
The Art Center offers a variety of both guided and self-guided tours of the museum and the Pappajohn Sculpture Park.
Tours are as interactive as the group would like, addressing the permanent collections as well as any special exhibitions on view. Guided tours are welcome during public hours and should be reserved in advance. We offer special guided tours for non- or low-sighted individuals at both the museum and the Pappajohn Sculpture Park.
To ensure we can accommodate your group, we ask that you submit your tour request at least three weeks in advance of your preferred date.
Guided Tours
Drop In Tours
Experience the Art Center with friends, family, and fellow art lovers while learning more about the works on view in the galleries during weekly drop in tours. Drop in tours at the Art Center are every Saturday beginning at 1 pm, starting March 2, 2024.
Virtual Guided Tours
The Art Center’s “Art Calls” program offers virtual tours of the museum led by a docent. Email tours@desmoinesartcenter.org to learn more and to get scheduled.
Accessible Guided Tours
We offer special guided tours for non- or low-sighted individuals at both locations. Depending on studio availability, a tour and art project can be scheduled. Email tours@desmoinesartcenter.org to schedule an accessible guided tour.
