Jackson Pollock’s Prints at Atelier 17

Join Joann Moser, senior curator at the Smithsonian American Art Museum,
for an informative lecture related to the Print Gallery exhibition
Hornets’ Nest: Abstract Expressionism on Paper (through September 23, 2012),
which features the first work (an engraving and drypoint print) by Jackson Pollock
to enter the Des Moines Art Center’s permanent collections.

Minneapolis Trip

Print Club members will visit several of the Twin Cities’ premier institutions for
collecting, exhibiting, and preserving works on paper, including the Highpoint
Center for Printmaking, the Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and the
Midwest Art Conservation Center.

Members are encouraged to share damaged prints in their collections (we all have them).
Stains, tears, foxing, mold, adhesive tape residue, bad framing, acidic mat burn,
and insect infestation are just a few causes of damage. 


Lindy Smith printing demonstration

Watch Lindy Smith demonstrate the technique of Kallitype printmaking, an alternative
photo process developed in England in the mid-19th century that the artist uses to
produce singular impressions of plants.
