Studies, Drafts, Sketches

Weinrich

April 28 – August 20, 2017
Blank One Gallery

This selection of works from the Art Center’s collection focuses on figure studies, preparatory drawings, and quickly-done sketches. Delicately finished in some sections and barely defined in others, these works reveal the artists’ processes as they rework and refine their imagery and ideas. While the deliberately posed human body is the theme of many of these pieces, animals, buildings and other works of art are also subjected to the analytic gaze of the artist. Featured artists include Rosa Bonheur, Robert Henri, Gustav Klimt, and Claes Oldenburg.

This exhibition is organized by Curator Laura Burkhalter.
