Iowa Artists 2008: Drawing surveys the state of drawing in Iowa. The exhibition features 26 artists and 72 works in a variety of media including sketches and finished drawings made with traditional drawing media such as charcoal, graphite, and pen on paper, as well as works in less-traditional media, such as wire and vinyl. It also features illustrations for a children’s book, digital drawings, a sprayed wall drawing, a room-sized sculptural installation, voodoo-themed drawings, a necklace that pierces the skin of its wearer, and a skywalk installation.

Iowa Artists 2008: Drawing is accompanied by an exhibition catalogue.

This exhibition is organized by Amy N. Worthen, curator of prints, and is sponsored by Bank of the West and the Peter H. & E. Lucille Gaass Kuyper Foundation.

This two-part series offers insightful discussions of the exhibition through the voices of the artists included in the show. Each evening, three artists will discuss their respective works and welcome questions from the audience. Curator Amy Worthen will also discuss her vision for the exhibition.
