Leslie Hewitt, in collaboration with cinematographer Bradford Young, presents the cinematic project Untitled (Structures). Hewitt’s conceptually-based work investigates the powerful way in which images resonate meaning over time and place. This film-based installation consists of a series of silent vignettes, juxtaposed still shots that create narrative inflection. Projected large, and with slow pacing, the installation sits between a static image and a cinematic experience. Additionally,
a sculptural piece entitled Where Paths Meet, Turn Away, Then Align Again (2012) explores the space between the illusion of film and the physical presence of sculpture.

The cinematic installation Untitled (Structures), 2012 was commissioned by the Menil Collection, Houston in collaboration with the Des Moines Art Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, and produced by Karin Chien.

Support for Untitled (Structures) is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts;
The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts; The Brown Foundation, Inc., of Houston;
Wells Fargo; substance; Marty Gross; and Faegre Baker Daniels LLP.
