Halston and Warhol: Silver and Suede explores the creativity and friendship between two of
the most iconic figures of contemporary American fashion and art. Organized by The Andy Warhol
Museum, Pittsburgh, Halston and Warhol will consist of original paintings, works on paper, clothes,
and ephemera by the two men. Many of the Warhol works in the exhibition were donated to the
Art Center by Des Moines native Roy HalstonFrowick (1932-1990), and will explore the dynamic
of their friendship through their mutual love of celebrity, design, and beauty. After opening at
The Andy Warhol Museum, this major exhibition will travel to the Des Moines Art Center before
embarking on a national itinerary. The exhibition will be accompanied by a major publication edited
by Eric Shiner, director of The Warhol Museum.
