CREATIVE CORPORATE GAMES 2007

Team Principal: 2006 Champions and 2007 Co-Champions

The Art Center’s second annual Creative Corporate Games were a hit again this year!

Corporate donors were invited to put together teams of six to compete in three rounds of challenges on October 19, 2007.

Participating teams included McCormick-Aquarium, On-Purpos Design, Principal Financial, Siemens, Substance Architecture, and West Bank. In the heated final round, Team Substance and 2006 Champions Team Principal tied for the title of 2007 Creative Corporate Games Co-Champions!

2007 CREATIVE CORPORATE GAMES
Challenge Line–up

Pre-Event Challenge (for bonus points!)

• OFFICE SUPPLIES SCULPTURE – inspired by the exhibition, Aisle 5, teams can create a sculpture made entirely of office supplies (i.e. staples, hole–punch paper, etc.), prior to the event for bonus points. Sculptures will be judged at the beginning of the event.

1st Round Challenges

• SOAP SCULPTURES – create a sculpture based on a simple shape (such as an egg). Teams will submit the sculptures to be judged and points will be awarded based on similarity to the suggested shape.
• IT’S TIME! – Match works from the permanent collection to the time period in which the piece was created; match the artists to the appropriate works of art for bonus points. Points will be awarded based on how many are in the correct order.
• TEAM BANNER – each team will be given a set amount of time to create a banner that represents their team. Finished banners will be judged and awarded points based on creativity, originality, and aesthetics.
• GIANT PUZZLE – Create a mini–Sol Lewitt replica from puzzle pieces based on a reproduction of the giant Downtown Art Center mural. Teams will put the puzzle together and will be judged based on the time it takes to put the pieces in the correct place.
• PICTURE IT! – Each team will be asked to draw and decipher a set number of words and phrases – second round will be done blindfolded! Points will be awarded based on time.
• CHARADES – Traditional charades using works of art in the Art Center’s Permanent Collections.

Semi–Final Round

• THREE–LEGGED TINKER TOY RELAY – teams will work together to create a finished work of art with Tinker Toys. Points will be awarded based on time.

Final Round

• ULTIMATE COLOR THEORY – teams will be given color chips and required to mix the secondary colors using the three primary colors. The scale will be very large and materials will include rain suits and mops to use as paint brushes!
