Summer on the Hill kicks-off with Free Flicks and the Art Center's 65th Birthday Party!

Celebrate the Art Center's 65th birthday with classic family games on the lawn, free cupcakes
and lemonade, and the beloved family film My Dog Skip (Jay Russell, director / 2000 / 95 minutes
Rated PG). Feel free to bring your canine pals (leashes required).
The birthday party starts at 7 pm and the film will begin at dusk (approximately 8:45 pm).

This powerful coming-of-age story of a boy and his dog is set in rural Mississippi during WW II.
Willie’s overprotective upbringing by his strict father has left Willie shy and isolated until he receives
a pup named Skip for his ninth birthday. Skip soon helps Willie become “one of the boys” and
ultimately teaches Willie about friendship, forgiveness, and redemption.
Starring Kevin Bacon, Diane Lane, Luke Wilson, and Frankie Muniz.

Join the Art Center for all the SUMMER ON THE HILL Free Flicks, pre-film activities, and live music
on the first Thursdays and Fridays of June, July*, August, and September.

*Due to Independence Day, the July Free Flick and First Friday will take place July 11 and 12.

Free Flicks is presented in partnership with Des Moines Parks and Recreation.
