Typeface is a documentary focusing on the Hamilton Wood Type Museum in Two Rivers, Wisconsin,
and its colllection of over one million pieces of wood type. A resurgence of interest in letterpress
printing and wood type has brought the spotlight to this museum for a design community that is
passioonate about the history of their craft and its function in the contemporary field.
International artists meet retired craftsmen at the musuem and together navigate the convergence
of modern design and traditional letterpress printing technique, in this small midwestern town.
This film will be of interest to art and graphic design enthusiasts, to teachers as an educational
resource, and to anyone looking for a film about perserverance and preservation in the heart of America.
